National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the USDOT released an alert earlier today warning about the sale of counterfeit air bags used by independent body and repair shops in vehicles involved in crash. NHTSA stated that the faulty air bags have been used by repair shops for the past three years, but caused no known fatalities or injuries.
As of October 10, 2012, the USDOP’s NHTSA is aware of counterfeit air bags available for the following vehicle makes and models:
